Politically charged........................

I had a discussion with my wife recently regarding Barack Obama's campaign tactics. She observed a commercial wherein Mr. Obama claims to have cut taxes, been strong on national defense and championed the average American's rights to pursue their dreams. She said that the commercial made her feel somewhat positive towards him as the potential president.

On the flip side, Senator Obama was named the most liberal Senator in the US Senate. How can he espouse these above mentioned values and still be the most liberal senator?

We all know that most Americans do not take the time to be informed enough about the candidates and what they really stand for. I believe that Obama is counting on the negatively charged atmosphere against the Republican party and the fact that the overwhelming majority of Americans do not take their voting rights seriously; to win the Presidency. I must add, I am not all that excited about electing a liberal republican to the office either. Need I name names?

What are your thoughts?

So who is the lesser of two evils?

Why do we always settle for the lesser of two evils. There are other candidates.

I think that before we find out what the candidates stand for we should do a little soul searching and find out what we stand for. what are the principles that that you identify with that will make your life better and more prosperous, then compare the candidates to those principles. By the way if anyone is wondering what principles I identify with read the Declaration of independence (sometimes called the declaration of principles).

I must add a point of clarification here; I don't believe in looking at 2nd tier candidates seriously. With that in mind, I think you should vote your conscience. I am more pragmatic about elections and therefore won't look at candidates that don't have a real shot at it.

I agree- why "waste" a vote by voting for someone who doesn't have a real shot at getting into the White House. I did my soul searching, attended the caucus and did my due diligence on a grass roots level only to have my candidate drop out of the race the morning after winning Colorado. I cant stand the sound of McCains voice- it sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. I know thats not a reason not to like the guy, but the thought of listening to his press conferences for the next 4 to 8 years sends shivers up my spine. He comes across to me a an overgrown smurf- I wonder how much credibility smurf McCain would have with foreign leaders? Obama has better charisma and sex appeal, but thats not a reason to elect someone or we'll end up with another inpeached democrat as president. I realize that this is superficial as to why to vote or not vote for someone, but sometimes its difficult to not take these little things into account too. Again I ask, who is the lesser of the two evils?

I think we have settled for the lesser of two evils for too long and its one reason we are having troubles now. I'd normally agree about wasting your vote but as of this point in time I can't (on principle)vote for either of the mainstream candidates.

You know to begin with everyone said Obama didn't have a chance of winning the nomination that it was all hillary's, but he put the organization together and did it. It also doesn't hurt that he's the messiah. ;-)If more people actually voted their conscience and didn't just settle those so called 2nd tier candidates might have a shot.

By the way i am in no way advocating for any candidate at this time. if you've read my blog you know where i stand. My candidate was long gone before Idaho even printed their ballots. (I voted for him anyway).

And in answer to your question Nathell, I don't think there is a lesser of two evils between the two they are on pretty equal footing with me which is why I'm struggling so much with my decision.

I agree with Brian. We have voted for the lesser of two evils for to long. The thing about the lesser of two evils is they are both evil.
